Transcorp Hilton Abuja Unveils Padel Court, Champions Sports, Wellness and Luxury Experience
Transcorp Hilton Abuja has unveiled a state-of-the-art padel court as part of efforts to expand its recreational offerings, improve guest experience and promote sports development in the Federal Capital Territory.
The newly commissioned facility, unveiled on Saturday, complements the hotel’s existing sporting and wellness amenities, including tennis courts, volleyball facilities, a gym and other fitness services.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Transcorp Hotels PLC, Mrs Uzoamaka Oshogwe, said the project was driven by feedback from guests who requested the introduction of padel.
“We listened to our guests and we heard what they were requesting, and that was the padel court. We sprang into action, and a few months later, here we are,” Oshogwe said.
She explained that the initiative aligns with the hotel’s vision of creating a complete lifestyle destination where guests can enjoy business, leisure, recreation and wellness experiences within the same environment.
According to her, the facility could also host tournaments and support grassroots sports development, adding that emerging sports like padel and tennis provide opportunities for Nigeria to discover talents capable of achieving international success.
The General Manager of Transcorp Hilton Abuja, Martin Zarybnicky, described the new court as a potential platform for nurturing future sporting champions.
“We would like to see some Nigerian champions go here with us and make us more famous,” he said.
Zarybnicky noted that the hotel has a history of supporting racket sports, including collaborations with the national squash association and young athletes who trained at the facility before participating in international competitions.
He added that the hotel remains open to partnerships focused on training, sponsorship and competitive opportunities for promising padel players.
The new facility has also created room for collaboration between Transcorp Hilton Abuja and the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council.
NUJ FCT Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, welcomed the development, describing the court as an opportunity to promote journalists’ wellness, networking and social interaction.
She stressed that the demanding nature of journalism, which involves long hours, field assignments and strict deadlines, makes physical fitness and stress management important for media professionals.
The hotel’s Brand and Marketing Manager, Ifeanyi Nnadi, said the padel court was designed beyond sports, describing it as a social and lifestyle hub capable of attracting families, friends, corporate teams and groups.
The Communications and Marketing Manager of Transcorp Hilton Abuja, Ijeoma Osuji, said the hotel’s workforce of over 1,000 employees would play a major role in delivering a memorable experience for customers, from booking to participation and post-event engagement.
She added that the hotel has put in place safety measures, including round-the-clock personnel and access to a nearby medical centre.
With the new investment, Transcorp Hilton Abuja is positioning padel as a platform for wellness, entertainment, event hosting and talent development, while strengthening Abuja’s reputation as a destination for premium lifestyle and sporting experiences.
