The Super Falcons of Nigeria have intensified preparations for the second leg of their Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games qualifying campaign after securing a 2-0 victory over Comoros in the first leg.

The nine-time African champions held a recovery session at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode on Saturday, October 11, 2026, as the technical crew focused on restoring the players’ fitness ahead of Tuesday’s decisive encounter.

Nigeria secured the first-leg advantage at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne through second-half goals from Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu.

After a goalless first half, Alozie broke the deadlock in the 48th minute, finishing from close range after Gift Monday headed the ball into her path.

The Super Falcons doubled their lead in the 59th minute when Kanu converted a corner kick delivered by Jennifer Echegini, giving Nigeria a comfortable two-goal cushion heading into the return fixture.

The recovery session was designed to help the players recuperate from the physical demands of the opening encounter before resuming full training.

The team is expected to begin intensive preparations on Sunday, with the coaching staff assessing players’ fitness levels and working on tactical adjustments ahead of the return leg.

Despite their advantage, the Nigerian side will be wary of complacency, with Comoros expected to fight hard to overturn the deficit and remain in contention for a place in the next qualifying round.

Defensive discipline, attacking efficiency and concentration will be crucial as the Super Falcons seek to protect their lead and advance in the race for a place at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.

The second leg is scheduled for Tuesday, October 13, with Nigeria aiming to complete the job and maintain their pursuit of Olympic qualification.
