Tansian University Denies Sexual Harassment Allegation Against Priest
Management of Tansian University has strongly denied allegations of sexual harassment reportedly leveled against a priest associated with the institution, describing the claims as false, misleading and malicious.
In an official rebuttal statement issued by the university registrar, Rev. (Dr.) Innocent Anthony Uke, the institution stated that no incident of sexual harassment involving the priest and any female student occurred either within or outside the university premises.
The university said the allegations were capable of tarnishing the reputation of both the priest and the institution, insisting that the claims lacked any factual basis.
The statement, however, acknowledged that there was a minor crisis within the university community last week, but clarified that the matter had no connection with sexual harassment. According to the management, the issue has already been reported to the police, while investigations are ongoing to identify those responsible.
Reaffirming its position as a faith-based institution founded on moral, ethical and spiritual values, the university maintained that it operates a strict zero-tolerance policy against all forms of misconduct, including harassment, intimidation and abuse involving students or staff.
The management also appealed to the public to disregard what it described as malicious and unverified reports capable of causing unnecessary panic and reputational damage to the institution.
The statement assured parents, students and guardians that the university remains committed to protecting the dignity, safety and welfare of members of its academic community.
