Ndume Warns APC of Tough 2027 Battle, Raises Concerns Over Party Optimism

Senator Ali Ndume has cautioned that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) may be heading into a difficult 2027 presidential election, urging party leaders not to be overconfident about their chances.

Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Ndume said the opposition challenge ahead is being underestimated in some quarters, particularly within President Bola Tinubu’s inner circle.

He claimed that some of the President’s close allies are not being fully transparent about the strength of emerging opposition forces, warning that such an attitude could hurt the party if left unchecked.

Ndume pointed to prominent opposition figures such as Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Seyi Makinde as potential threats capable of shaping a highly competitive election.

While insisting he remains loyal to the APC, he stressed that political opponents should not be taken lightly, adding that internal honesty is necessary for the party to stay ahead.

The senator also reflected on criticism he received over earlier remarks, saying his comments sparked unexpected backlash but were meant to highlight internal realities within the party.

Ndume described Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of 2027 as intense and unpredictable, warning that the contest could be far tougher than many in the ruling party currently assume.
