Manchester United Confirm Tyler Fredricson’s Permanent Exit to Lausanne-Sport

Manchester United have confirmed the permanent departure of academy graduate Tyler Fredricson, with the young defender completing a move to Swiss Super League side Lausanne-Sport.

The club announced the transfer in an emotional message celebrating Fredricson’s journey from the academy ranks to the first team, describing him as a lifelong Red who had proudly represented the club at every level.

United’s statement read: “Tyler Fredricson has agreed a permanent transfer to Lausanne-Sport, subject to registration. A lifelong Red from south Manchester, he worked diligently while proudly rising through the ranks of our world-famous youth system.”

The 21-year-old joined United’s academy at Under-9 level and progressed through the club’s renowned youth structure. He played a key role in the 2022 FA Youth Cup campaign, featuring in every round as United reached the final, although illness ruled him out of the decisive match against Nottingham Forest.

Fredricson made his senior debut for Manchester United on April 20, 2025, in a Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers. He later featured against Brentford, Grimsby Town and Newcastle United, making four competitive appearances for the first team.

The defender was also recognised for his contribution at youth level after winning the prestigious Denzil Haroun Reserve-Team Player of the Year award in 2025.

United praised Fredricson’s professionalism and commitment throughout his time at Old Trafford, saying: “Tyler has been a model professional throughout his time with the club and a popular member of our Academy squads. Everybody at United thanks Tyler for all his efforts and wishes him all the best for the next chapter of his career.”

Fredricson’s move to Lausanne-Sport will see him reunite with United midfielder Sekou Kone, who recently joined the Swiss club on loan. The relationship between both clubs could provide Manchester United with opportunities to monitor and develop emerging talents in Switzerland.

The transfer comes amid a busy period of squad restructuring at Old Trafford, with the club focusing on player departures while continuing efforts to strengthen the squad. United have recently completed exits involving Youri Tielemans, Karl Darlow and Andrey Santos, while midfield targets including Manu Kone, Alex Scott and Carlos Baleba remain under consideration.

For Fredricson, the move marks the beginning of a new chapter after more than a decade wearing the famous red shirt.
