DCP Adeola Odetunde Urges Media, Police to Strengthen Collaboration
The Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja, DCP Adeola Odetunde, has called for stronger engagement between the Nigeria Police Force and the media to promote accurate information and effective security communication.
Odetunde made the call while welcoming representatives of the Police, media, Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), International Institute of Journalism (IIJ), resource persons, sponsors and other participants to a two-day media interaction at the Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja.
He said the programme provides an important platform for meaningful dialogue between the security and media sectors, allowing both sides to exchange ideas, share experiences and develop stronger professional relationships.
The DCP urged participants to actively engage in the sessions, ask questions and contribute their experiences, stressing that meaningful conversations could extend beyond the formal presentations.
He commended the resource persons, sponsors, media professionals and the Zone 7 planning team for their contributions towards the success of the programme.
Odetunde also highlighted other activities lined up for participants, including exhibition booths and basic health services at the Zone 7 Medical Station, where participants could have their vital signs and eyes checked, with free reading glasses available where required.
He further encouraged media professionals to capture and share the activities with their audiences, saying the event should not end within the walls of the Zone 7 Headquarters.
“Capture the moments, tell the story and let people see what we are doing here at Zone 7 Headquarters, Abuja,” he said.
The Deputy Commissioner expressed optimism that the two-day interaction would provide participants with new perspectives, useful contacts and practical ideas while strengthening collaboration between security agencies and the media.
He welcomed all participants and wished them a successful and rewarding engagement.
