The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Special Marshals Unit 46, Mpape, has decorated four new Special Marshals as part of efforts to strengthen its manpower base and enhance its contribution to road safety management across Nigeria.
The decoration ceremony, which took place on Wednesday, July 29, at the unit command in Mpape, Abuja, was held during the unit’s monthly general meeting and attracted members of the Special Marshals as well as invited officials.
The newly decorated Special Marshals — Mr Chiemeka Ugwowo, Mr Thomas Eze, Mr Fabian Mama, and Mr Haruna Benjamin — were formally inducted into their new roles following their commitment, dedication, and willingness to support the FRSC’s mission of reducing road traffic crashes and promoting safer driving habits among road users.
Addressing the gathering, the Unit Commander of Special Marshals Unit 46, Pastor Michael Ogunbiyi, congratulated the newly decorated members and charged them to remain committed, disciplined, and dedicated to the responsibilities that come with the position.
Pastor Ogunbiyi praised the efforts of members of the unit for their continuous sacrifices in supporting road safety campaigns, traffic control, public enlightenment, and patrol operations. He urged the newly decorated Marshals to uphold the values of integrity, teamwork, and service while carrying out their duties.
The Unit Commander also encouraged members to strengthen relationships within the unit by promoting mutual support among themselves. He advised members to always make their professions and business activities known to one another, stressing that such cooperation would encourage patronage and improve economic empowerment among members.
Meanwhile, Pastor Ogunbiyi appealed to the Regular Unit Commander to continue supporting the Special Marshals by releasing some regular personnel to participate in their weekly patrol exercises, noting that collaboration between both arms of the FRSC would improve operational effectiveness.
Responding to the appeal, Mr JB Shidok assured the Special Marshals that he would continue to provide the necessary support within his capacity to ensure that their patrol activities and other road safety engagements achieve the desired results.
The newly decorated Special Marshals expressed gratitude to the leadership and members of Unit 46 for the honour bestowed on them. They pledged to dedicate themselves fully to the service of humanity and work tirelessly in support of the FRSC’s vision of safer roads and reduced road crashes.
They also promised to contribute their time, energy, and professional skills toward improving road safety awareness and assisting motorists within their operational areas.
In his closing remarks, Pastor Michael Ogunbiyi appreciated all members of the unit for their presence and participation in the event, describing the occasion as a significant milestone in the growth and development of Special Marshals Unit 46, Mpape.
