Bauchi Governor Vows Fair Play as APM Unveils 2027 Candidates
Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has vowed that the Allied People’s Movement (APM) will neither manipulate the 2027 elections nor allow itself to be cheated.
Speaking at the Bauchi Government House during the unveiling of the party’s governorship and deputy governorship candidates, Mohammed said APM is ready for a “tough political battle” and stressed that no competitor will be underestimated.
“We are not going to underestimate our competitors. Even if a child born today is a candidate, I will treat him like a grown-up,” he said.
Mohammed emphasized that the party will focus on presenting its achievements to the people rather than resorting to manipulation. “We will not urge anybody to rig for us, but we will not allow anybody to rig us. This is our policy,” he stated.
He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to ensure a free, fair, and credible election, noting that democracy thrives on fairness and justice. “If we win, we will accept it. If we lose, we will accept it—especially where transparency and equity prevail,” he added.
The governor encouraged party members to remain united and committed as the 2027 elections approach. On his X account, he confirmed Yakubu Adamu, Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, as the APM governorship candidate, with Mahmood Abubakar as his running mate.
Having recently joined APM, Mohammed also thanked stakeholders for endorsing him as the senatorial candidate for Bauchi South. “This reflects our collective determination to strengthen unity, expand support, and position ourselves for success in the 2027 elections,” he wrote, urging party members to stay focused on building a prosperous future for Bauchi State.
