Borno State Imposes Temporary Movement Restrictions for Eid Prayers
The Borno State Government has announced a temporary ban on vehicular and human movement across the state to ensure the peaceful conduct of Eid prayers.
Approved by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, the restriction will be in effect from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, applying to all vehicles, tricycles, and motorcycles.
The measure follows a recent Nigerian military advisory warning of potential terrorist attacks in crowded areas across the state.
According to Prof. Usman Tar, Commissioner for Information and Internal Security, the restriction aims to enhance security during the Eid celebrations. He advised residents to attend the nearest Eid grounds to facilitate efficient movement and identification.
Exempted from the restriction are security agencies, ambulances, emergency vehicles, fire service personnel, and essential duty staff with valid identification.
Prof. Tar also urged parents and guardians to caution their children and residents across the state’s 27 local government areas to comply with security directives.
Governor Zulum appealed to residents to pray for lasting peace in Borno State and Nigeria, while reaffirming his administration’s commitment to security, reconstruction, and resettlement.
