1. OIL-RICH DELTA CONSTITUENCY DESERVES BETTER, SAYS OBIUWEVBI AS HE JOINS REPS RACE
Dr. Christopher Obiuwevbi has formally entered the race for the House of Representatives seat to represent the Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency of Delta State, pledging fair and effective representation for the people.

The aspirant picked up his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, in Abuja, officially signaling his ambition to contest the seat.
Speaking shortly after obtaining the forms, Dr. Obiuwevbi said the constituency, despite its enormous contribution to Nigeria’s economic survival through crude oil and gas production, has continued to suffer neglect and underdevelopment.
According to him, the federal constituency has produced millions of barrels of oil and substantial gas resources that have continued to sustain the nation’s economy, yet the people have little to show for their sacrifices.
“Despite our immense contributions, our people continue to suffer neglect. The impact of government is scarcely felt in our communities,” he said.
He decried what he described as the lack of visible federal presence in the area, citing the absence of meaningful projects and opportunities from critical government ministries and agencies, including the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Federal Ministry of Education, and the Federal Ministry of Transport.
Dr. Obiuwevbi also raised concerns over unemployment among youths in the constituency, lamenting what he called the poor representation of Udu and other constituent communities in major national institutions such as the Nigeria Gas Company (NGC) and the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC).
“It is unjust that the communities that sustain the nation’s economy are left behind. The goose that lays the golden egg must be protected and nurtured,” he stated.
He said his decision to contest was borne out of widespread calls from constituents who desire effective, responsive, and people-focused representation at the National Assembly.
Expressing confidence ahead of the party primaries, the aspirant said he is optimistic of emerging victorious, noting that the support he has received from the grassroots has been overwhelming.
Dr. Obiuwevbi further commended the leadership of the APC for providing what he described as a transparent and inclusive process that offers all aspirants equal opportunity to participate.
He reaffirmed his commitment to championing equitable development, youth empowerment, and stronger representation for the Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency at the national l
