Ikebunwa in the eye of the storm as Anambra NDC youths declare full support for rep. Uzokwe ahead of 2027

The leadership of the Anambra Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Wing has dismissed a series of statements credited to Fidelis Lotanna Ikebunwa, describing them as false, misleading, and aimed at causing political distraction within the party.

In a statement released by the group, the youths alleged that Ikebunwa has been inconsistent in his public identity and has at different times claimed to represent various youth bodies across Nnewi North, Nnewi South, and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency. They further claimed he has attempted to position himself as a spokesperson for the NDC youths in Anambra State without any legitimate mandate.

The group also accused him of engaging in what they described as persistent attempts to discredit Rep. Peter Uzokwe, whom they praised for his performance in office and strong engagement with constituents.
According to the statement, Rep. Uzokwe secured victory in the party’s primary election for the 2027 National Assembly race through what they described as a transparent and widely accepted process. They maintained that the outcome remains valid and can be confirmed by party executives across the three local government areas that make up the constituency.
The youths further rejected claims of irregularities or disputes surrounding the primaries, insisting that such narratives are being promoted by individuals seeking to create confusion within the party.

They also alleged that Ikebunwa has engaged in repeated political attacks and provocative statements, urging the public to disregard what they termed “fabricated and self-serving publications.”
Reaffirming their support for Rep. Uzokwe, the group expressed confidence in his chances in the 2027 elections and called for unity and focus on development-oriented politics.

The statement was issued by the leadership of the NDC Youth Wing, led by Patrick Ejiofor, Chukwuka Okonkwo, Kenenna Oradubanya, Chinasa Oragu, Chizoba Elodimuo, Nnamdi Maduabum, and Azuka Ugwumba, who, alongside other members of the constituency, jointly distanced themselves from what they described as falsehoods and misleading claims allegedly made by certain political actors.
