CSN Begins 2026 Communications Week With Call for Hope and Faith
The Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria on Sunday commenced its 2026 Communications Week with a Holy Mass presided over by Rev. Fr. Boniface Idoko under the theme, “My Face Is My Signature.”
In his homily, Fr. Idoko urged the congregation to reflect on why many people now rely heavily on makeup and outward appearances, noting that even men have increasingly embraced facial makeup. He linked his message to the day’s first reading, reminding the faithful of God’s promise never to abandon His people as orphans.
According to him, the current economic hardship in Nigeria has left many people feeling lonely, abandoned and hopeless, but Christians must remain steadfast in faith, knowing that the unseen presence of God continues to guide and protect them.
He encouraged the faithful not to give up despite the nation’s challenges, stressing that the Holy Spirit strengthens believers and gives courage in difficult times.
Fr. Idoko further charged Christians to become sources of encouragement to others, especially as Nigeria approaches the 2027 general elections. He warned against spreading hopelessness, insisting that real change cannot come from politicians alone but through people led by the Holy Spirit.
“This country is in the hands of God, not politicians. Change must begin with you,” he said.
He assured worshippers that as long as the word of God remains, no believer is an orphan but a child of God, adding that Christ remains alive and present with His people.
The Mass ended with prayers for peace, protection and divine guidance for Nigeria.
