NUJ FCT Hails FRCN-China Partnership, Says ‘Ni Hao China’ Deepens Bilateral Ties
The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council, has hailed the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) and its Chinese partners for using broadcasting to strengthen Nigeria-China relations, promote cultural diplomacy and deepen mutual understanding, as the “Ni Hao China” programme marked 456 days on air.
NUJ FCT Council Chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, gave the commendation in a goodwill message at the anniversary celebration, praising the collaboration involving FRCN, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria and the China Cultural Centre for sustaining a platform for cultural exchange and people-to-people engagement.
Ike said the programme had demonstrated how radio could bridge cultural differences, promote language learning and build lasting relationships between people of different countries.
She noted that its significance extended beyond the 456-day milestone, describing it as an example of how sustained media engagement could foster cooperation, correct misconceptions and encourage peaceful coexistence.
The NUJ FCT Council stressed that journalists and broadcasters had a responsibility to use their platforms to promote understanding, mutual respect and constructive engagement rather than deepen divisions.
It also called on the programme’s organisers to expand its reach through radio, digital platforms and social media, particularly to encourage greater participation by young Nigerians.
According to the council, sustaining and expanding such initiatives would strengthen professional journalism, cultural diplomacy, youth participation and responsible public communication.
The council congratulated the organisers, presenters, producers and partners behind “Ni Hao China”, expressing hope that the programme would continue to deepen cultural appreciation and strengthen relations between Nigeria and China.
