2027: ATIKU INSISTS ADC WILL GO TO PRIMARY IF UNITY TALKS COLLAPSE
Says party’s first option is unity ahead of 2027 polls
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has declared that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will conduct a presidential primary election if efforts to produce a consensus candidate for the 2027 presidential race fail.
Speaking during an interview on ARISE TV on Wednesday, Atiku said the party’s first approach is to build agreement among stakeholders and aspirants through consensus. However, he stressed that the ADC would not hesitate to proceed with direct primaries should that option prove unsuccessful.

“The first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t work out, then we will go for primary elections. But I will support anybody who emerges,” he said.

The former vice president further pledged to support whoever emerges as the ADC’s presidential candidate, emphasizing the need for party unity and a transparent democratic process as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
